Seattle Outsider Artist Project is a Washington State non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of art by self-taught artists, underground artists, undiscovered artists, and creative persons who do not consider themselves to be artists.
Our focus is on fostering and promoting the work of outsiders by providing them with the means and opportunities to produce art and exhibit their work. We provide financial, material, and human resources to promising individuals and groups engaged in creative activity, particularly to those with no or limited resources or experience. We organize exhibitions and events that showcase the |
talents of people operating outside the "art world" mainstream, regardless of their portfolios or the marketability of their work. We foster a volunteer network of people who are able and willing to assist with the artistic projects of others. We also offer micro-grants to promising individuals and groups who might not otherwise seek funding from conventional sources.
We believe that creative expression is more than a right, its an imperative. We hope our efforts will inspire the public to participate not only in experience of art, but also in its production, thereby tilling Seattles fertile soil to the overall health and benefit of the community.
